St Maarten is the undisputed champion of idleness. The charms of the island are spread over more than 36 beaches, probably more.
It takes time to find even the most famous beaches, but with little effort everyone should be able to satisfy their quest for golden sand and turquoise water.
Of course, to find the jewel of the crown, it takes a little imagination. The best beaches are usually hidden. Here is Baie Rouge, my favourite spot in St Maarten/ St Martin. A rare unspoiled beauty, at the end of a path that is a well kept secret.
But once there, the only effort required will be to make the most of the happiness you have found.
